Who We Are

We are a group with diverse backgrounds that got together to follow our passion of creating video games. We realized that there are many people who share that common goal, but we realized there was no central place in Styria where we can get to know each other and do cool stuff together. So in 2015 we decided to create an association (de: Verein) to help us achieve the goal of establishing a lively and vibrant community.

What We Want

We want to create an environment for aspiring as well as experienced game creators to share knowledge, network, collaborate and grow the medium of interactive experiences. We want to foster and grow a community of like-minded people that share the will to push the envelope of what is possible with games.

What We Do

• Game Dev Meetups: A monthly gathering for those interested in games & game development, with free entry and open for everyone to meet up, share knowledge and ideas, and connect with each other.

• Game Jams: Events with the purpose of creating games within a short span of time, usually ranging between 24 and 72 hours, either alone or with a team.

• Indie Game Expos: Providing game devs with the opportunity to show their projects to players live and get feedback, and to have the audience meet the devs behind games still in development.

• Game Dev Days: An annual conference and community event for game developers of all kind; Connecting industry, indies, students, academia, and research.

• Styrian Games Award (SAGA): A set of awards for games made with ties to the local game scene, given annually.

• GDG at Button Festival: The Game Dev Graz presence at the annual Button Festival in Graz.
